This moth was dead on one of the campground roads. It's a Promethea Moth (Callosamia promethea), a female (the male is apparently strikingly darker) and huge - wings cover my open hand. I hope it fulfilled its mission... Wentworth NH, 6/27/2014.

Green Leuconycta

This moth seems to be a Green Leuconycta (Leuconycta diphteroides); it came as a surprise that it's green, because I was looking for something white. Wentworth NH, 6/27/2014. No size reference, because the kids had summoned me into the men's bathroom, and I didn't trust Denton to actually keep an effective lookout against surprising actual users of the bathroom.

Crocus Geometer

I saw several different individuals of this sort; I think it's a Crocus Geometer (Xanthotype sospeta). Nothing with excellent focus, since the better specimen required that I balance on a toilet lid to get a picture, and the other was flying around. I tried removing one from the bathroom, only to have it fly back in, repeatedly. Quite large, though I didn't measure the tiles. 6/27/2014, 6/28/2014, Pine Haven, Wentworth NH.

Hickory Tussock Moth

Today's moth seems to be a Hickory Tussock Moth (Lophocampa caryae); no size reference since where I was holding the camera was as close as I was going to get to the bathroom ceiling. (Pine Haven campground, Wentworth NH, 6/27/2014.)

Northern Pine Looper

Here's moth #2 in our series; must be a very common one, since I saw several individuals on this trip and on previous trips. I think this is Northern Pine Looper (Caripeta piniata); photographed 6/27/2014 at Pine Haven in Wentworth NH.

Wavy Chestnut Y Moth

I spent the weekend at Pine Haven campground in Wentworth, NH. Kids had a good time. Plenty of moths to be had. I think this one's Wavy Chestnut Y Moth (Autographa mappa), found on Friday afternoon at the campground bathroom. With my thumb for scale, I make it 22mm long.
