I have a brick pile. The English ivy had infiltrated it, and both people and animals had climbed on it, so it was a huge mess. Denton and I spent almost all morning restacking it. Denton declared this to be great fun, while I would prefer never to restack a pile of bricks again.
I removed a lot of composted debris (at one point I bundled cardboard for recycling, and then it got caught in the rain and composted in place outside) from behind the pile with a shovel, and am expecting to be able to sweep some more of the dirt into the cracks once it dries out.
We found quite a number of spiders, including this fine one.
The holes in the pot are 17mm diameter. I will spend a little time with bugguide.net later and see if I can identify it.
