I was all set to leave the moth light on Saturday night, but then saw that the weather forecast called for rain all night, and the unprotected battery can't tolerate being rained on, so I went out to pack things up at 9:30pm. As I was taking down the sheet and trying to shake off the remaining moths, I spotted this one: Boldly-marked Archips (Archips dissitana), Jaffrey NH, 2016/07/30.

The Saw-Wing (Euchlaena serrata), came to lights, Jaffrey NH, 2016/07/29.
I rather enjoy that a number of moths have "the" in their common name.

Pearl Crescent (Phyciodes tharos) - perhaps the easiest of the local butterflies to photograph. Jaffrey, NH, 2016/07/30.

I had once looked at a picture of this lovely moth in my book, and wondered if I'd ever see one. Found this one two years ago, then two of them last night. It's Cherry Scallop Shell (Rheumaptera prunivorata) 37mm wing span. Jaffrey, NH, 2016/07/29.

Monty caught me a moth! I think this is Ultronia Underwing (Catocala ultronia). We had to harass it a bit to get it to show the colors like that. Somerville MA, 7/8/2016.

Here's a slightly obstructed view of a small skipper. I think it's Long Dash (Polites mystic) but I could believe it to be a Peck's Skipper (Polites peckius) - I don't think I have a view of enough other features to be sure. Seen at the Warren Fish Hatchery, Warren NH, 6/26/2016.

I think this one is Confused Meganola (Meganola minuscula). Wentworth NH, 2016/06/26.

This moth showed up in our dining room yesterday evening, and I caught it for a picture in daylight. After the usual views, I started trying to get some more of its detail to show up by playing with the exposure. The first view is true to the overall appearance.
I think it's a Yellow-headed Cutworm (Apamea amputatrix), but could be mistaken. The pair of white dots inside the reniform spot should be the diagnostic field mark. Somerville MA, 6/29/2016.

This is apparently the peppered moth (Biston betularia) that's famous for evolving to favor the melanistic form in response to industrial polution. Anyhow, it came to my light, and was found in the bucket. Wentworth NH, 6/26/2016.

I think this moth is Bent-line Gray (Iridopsis larvaria), brought to a sheet with UV light. Wentworth NH, 6/26/2016.
